The "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0" are a W3C specification providing guidance on accessibility of Web sites for people with disabilities. They have been developed by the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative . The specification contains fourteen guidelines which are general principles of accessible design. Each guideline is associated with one or more checkpoints describing how to apply that guideline to particular features of Web pages. An appendix to the guidelines, "List of Checkpoints for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0" presents the checkpoints sorted by priority for easy reference. These guidelines not only make pages more accessible to people with disabilities, but also have the side benefit of making pages more accessible to all users, or to users using different browsers or one of the emerging handheld or voice-based computers.

Open Sky has worked with a combination of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) , and its own expertise to create and maintain the site to be as accessible as possible to all users.

Open Sky makes every effort to ensure that its site conforms to the first two levels of these guidelines.

Open Sky's list of priority guidelines.
1. The look and feel of the site is controlled using cascading style sheets, however, should a client browser not support style sheets, the site is still navigable and clearly readable.
2. Tables that contain data, have a header row enabled. Colour is not used to convey information.
3. Images are used for graphical presentation only and do not convey any information that is not conveyed in text form also.
4. Use of nested tables has been minimised.
5. Each page has its language identified in the html.
6. Style sheets have been used to control layout and presentation as much as possible.
7. Form pages are designed with accessibility in mind and use labels for identifying form elements as well as using prompt text.
8. Background and foreground colours contrast sufficiently.
9. No images are animated, nor is there any use of animated graphics.
10. The site contains a site map.
11. Navigation can be skipped using the anchor elements supplied (Skip Navigation).
12. The navigation for the site is simple and consistent throughout the site.
13. All tables used to display data have captions.
14. All form elements contain a logical tab order, which is top to bottom.
15. A basic and advanced search allows for users with different skill levels.
16. A consistent style is used throughout the site.
17. The website is resolution independent and the pages extract or contract to fit the screen.
18. Font sizes are not fixed thus making it easier for the users to customize the screen to their liking.
Font sizes can be changed in Internet Explorer through "View" menu and then choosing the text size.
19. "Skip to main content" feature allows users with screen reading software to skip reading the navigation bar on every page and go directly to the content of the page.
20. The site allows users to go to the Home Page or Site Map from anywhere on the site by pressing Alt h or Alt m followed by Enter. All other main options are also available e.g. Products - alt p, Careers - alt r, Software Services - alt s, Contact Us - alt c.
